Quick Start

Watch the video tutorial to quickly understand how to use the software.

Gamekeeper is a computer software designed around the core need of managing game saves. Its ultimate goal is to solve the following problems encountered by players when playing games:

  • Accidentally losing saves or encountering corrupted saves, leading to all efforts being wasted overnight, forcing you to abandon the game.
  • Games with rich content and numerous branches, where choosing the wrong dialogue option can prevent you from obtaining powerful items, forcing you to wait for the next playthrough.
  • Games that do not support cloud saves, forgetting to migrate saves when upgrading devices, or not knowing where saves are located, leading to abandoning the game again.
  • Games with many classes, wanting to progress multiple classes simultaneously, but the game not providing multiple save slots.
  • Encountering a great game you want to recommend to friends, but the game only has one save slot, making it impossible to let friends try it out.
  • The game is too grindy, and you want to find a save file from a hardcore player online to save yourself some effort.

Most players have likely encountered these problems. Gamekeeper exists to help you solve them, allowing you to enjoy your gaming time carefree.

After downloading and installing this software, you can master its basic usage by following these four steps:

  1. Download Metadata File: The metadata file records information such as save locations and platforms for a large number of games. This file will be automatically downloaded when the software is launched for the first time. (If the download fails due to network issues, you can download it manually and place it in the target folder. See details). Download metadata file

  2. Add Game: First, set the installation directories of your commonly used local games as your library directories (How to set library directories). Then, confirm that the target game is installed on your machine and has been launched for the first time (ensure the save folder has been generated). In the software’s Add Game interface, enter the official name of the game (How to use localized names). The software will automatically retrieve the game’s metadata and populate all searchable information based on the metadata. However, the software cannot guarantee that the automatically identified information is 100% accurate, and you may need to make some manual adjustments. Add game

  3. Create Save Slot: A save slot is similar to a game’s save slot. Different save slots are managed independently. When someone else wants to play your game, or you want to start a new save, you can create a new save slot. Create save slot

  4. Upload Game Save: The software manages game saves in a way similar to the Git version control system. When new save files are generated, you can commit new saves within the save slot. You can optionally provide an image or short video for the new save to quickly identify your progress at that save point later. If this save creates a new story branch, you can create a new branch, just like Git. For more details, please refer to Save Management. Upload game save

  • The software’s save management function is centered around a branch system. For details, please see Save Management.
  • The software supports uploading saves to your own cloud storage devices, allowing you to continue playing by automatically downloading cloud saves after changing devices. For details, please see Cloud Sync.
  • The software features a powerful quick save mechanism, which can automatically save the game’s latest progress through hotkeys, process monitoring, real-time saving, timed saving, etc., and automatically capture screenshots or record videos of the game interface during saving. For details, please see Quick Save.
  • The software supports automatically adding games by scanning local or cloud directories, allowing for quick transfer of your game library after switching devices, saving you the hassle of adding them one by one. For details, please see Import Game.
